Camping la Grande Métairie has been a Canvas favourite for over 30 years. Set in the parkland grounds of a Breton manor house, this beautifully maintained ‘Castels’ site has been awarded ‘five red tents’ by Michelin and offers a wide range of first class facilities.
The spacious emplacements are surrounded by mature trees and hedges, which offer some shade and privacy. The fabulous pool complex boasts a covered pool, two outdoor pools, five waterslides and a jacuzzi. Adjacent is an enclosure where children can meet some affectionate farm animals. The site offers all you need during your stay, with a friendly restaurant, lively bar and a well-equipped supermarket. Evening entertainment includes discos and folk concerts in the amphitheatre.

stay on the N165, and follow signs to Lorient.
Come off the dual carriageway at the junction signposted for Carnac (next to E.Leclerc hypermarket and McDonalds).
*This road joins the D768.
Follow the D768 for about 8km (5mls), and then take the left exit from a large, new roundabout, signposted to Carnac and Camping La Grande Métairie.
After 3km (2mls), just before a mini roundabout, take the left turn signposted to the campsite ‘La Grande Métairie’.
The campsite is 1km (0.6mls) after the turning, on the right hand side.
Coming from Lorient,
take the N165 and follow signs to Auray where you will pick up the D768 signposted to Quiberon and Carnac (next to the E.Leclerc hypermarket and McDonalds).

Local Area
This site has a majestic setting in the Carnac area where you can marvel at the many standing stones, some of which are opposite the site. Carnac Ville is around a five minute drive from site and offers some facilities. Carnac Plage is a few minutes drive further on, offering many shops, bars and restaurants. The closest beach is Men-Du which is around ten minutes by car and has a small island which can be reached at low tide.
The Carnac area is rich in Menhirs and dolmens dating from the Neolithic times, between 5000 and 3000BC. The visitor centre in Carnac has some enlightening information. It is worth driving to the north of Carnac to see the Tumulus de Kercado - one of the oldest megalithic structures in the world.
